Processing Unit

Hardware

Processing Unit Up to 8 pressure sensors (with explosion-proofed version 2) or ultrasonic transducer units can be connected to the processing unit via the SENSORbus.

The pressure sensors are supplied via the two-wire line of the SENSORbus which serves as digital, bidirectional data path at the same time.

Each processing unit offers two programmable analog outputs, two programmable limiting value outputs and one o.k. output.

Operating Matrix

Processing Unit The parameter setting is managed by a comfortable matrix. The opposite cutout shows part of the matrix which consist of 10 colums and 18 lines. For example, in line B, column 1, the pressure of sensor 1(P1) is assigned to channel 1. With line C the value is determined to be in the unit "bar". On channel 2 there is the temperature (T1) of the sensor shown in "°C". For any operatin field a funcion may be chosen and saved. The selected functions can be modified anytime. They remain saved during a possible voltage loss

Keyboard

Keyboard and display By means of 4 front keys all the system parameters can be interactiveley entered, modified and displayed. The matrix is arranged in a foreground and a background level. The foreground contains the parameter and measured-value designations, the background the corresponding values.

Exceeding the two limit values is indicated by two orange LEDs.

A two-colour LED lights green at OK and red at an error. The reset key can only be operated with an auxiliary device, like a pen.

Operating Language

D,F, E, S, I The communication language can also be chosen by means of the matrix.

The languages German, French, Englisch, Spanish and Italian are available.

Products using Processing Unit

Processing Unit Apart from MPO and the position measurement, all of the Rittmeyer measurement systems use the same processing units with the same type of operation. Thus, the user has not to be concerned about different types of operation for different types of measurement. The following systems all use the mentioned processing unit:

SENSORbus

Description

The transducers, either used for pressure measurement or for flow measurement by RISONIC, are connected ot the processing unit via the SENSORbus. The sensors can be connected in any combination (see picture). Moreover, it is possible to link the measured values of two sensors. For example, with one sensor in front and one behind a trash-rack, the trash-rack loss can be evalueted by a subtraction.

Via a serial interface, the processing unit can be connected to a higher system like a PC or a process-control-system. Hence, an uniterrupted, digital signal transmission is ensured from the lowest to the highest process-control level. This allows process-control configurations at reasonable costs. Usual analog / digital conversions in the signal circuit are dropped. Therefore, the general accuracy is improved.

The SENSORbus may be arranged as a line bus, in tree or ring structure. The connection is carried out with a two-wire line. The allowed total length of the bus is 1500m.
