QD3 Quality Documenter, is a Microsoft Windows based calibration database software developed to make the calibration work easier, improve productivity and to document and store calibration results and calibration procedures. QD3 is easy to learn and easy to use. The program is designed for and targeted at, small and medium sized process plants, service companies, manufacturers and contractors, etc. Typically those companies having the requirements to keep track of a few hundred instruments. The ergonomic user interface is designed to represent a ‘card file’ structure, thus giving the user the feeling that they are flicking through standard instrument information cards. Behind this user friendly interface lies a powerful Microsoft Access database engine. QD3 always stores data in the Microsoft Access format.
How QD3 is used:
Selection of Instruments to be Calibrated
The instruments due for calibration are selected from the database
and sent to the appropriate calibrator.

As Found Calibration
The calibrator is taken into the field and is used to perform an as
found calibration using the setup information in the memory. Once the As
Found calibration is completed, the calibrator indicates a PASS / FAIL
status. The results are saved in the memory of the calibrator.
|
|
|
Instrument Adjustment
In case of a fail status after the As Found calibration, the instrument
is adjusted with the help of the calibrator. The maximum error is reduced
to the pass level.
As Left Calibration
The instrument is calibrated again to check that the maximum error
is at the desired level. At the end of the As Left calibration cycle, the
calibra-tor indicates a PASS / FAIL status. The results are stored in the
calibra-tor memory and the next instrument can be calibrated.

Receiving of Calibration Results
After all calibrations have been performed the calibrator is reconnected
to the computer and QD3 will receive the calibration results.

Printing of Results
Calibration certificates and reports can be printed out for instruments
with calibration results in QD3's database.
QD3 communicates with the following QCAL® calibrators:
* MC5 Multifunction Calibrator.
* Portable pressure/electrical calibrators: PC106
and PC104.
* Portable temperature/electrical calibrators: TC305 and TC303.
* The PC106P and TC305P host modules in
the MCS100 series
of calibration stations.
Other calibrators are supported when using the manual entry of calibration
results.
QD3 also stores calibration history results in the database files.
From there they can be transferred into the higher level QM6 Quality Manager
Calibration Software.
